LEXINGTON, KY – Ashland Inc., and its Valvoline division, have been awarded $5 million in damages from Windward Petroleum Inc. and its affiliate, Commercial Distributing Inc., in an Agreed Final Judgment issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

The Final Judgment is based on Ashland’s claim that the New Hampshire-based Windward, its one-time distributor, “tortuously interfered” with Valvoline customers in regards to certain actions taken with a Valvoline competitor. The Final Judgment awarded to Ashland and Valvoline was $4 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages.
