New Registration Process Unveiled for SEMA Show
April 9, 2007

DIAMOND BAR, CA – SEMA has unveiled a new, simplified registration process prequalified professionals to sign up and attend the 2007 SEMA Show, which takes place Tuesday, Oct. 30 - Friday, Nov. 2, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The new process uses a personalized "alumni" number for those who verified their trade status by attending the 2005 or 2006 SEMA Show. The alumni number taps into information that was previously submitted and avoids attendees having to re-submit business documents, as well as fill out several blank forms. Organizers estimate that the alumni links will save attendees as much as 15 minutes registering for the show.

"The SEMA Show is about connecting businesses and buyers," said Peter MacGillivray, SEMA vice president of shows and marketing. "While we’re committed to ensuring that the show is restricted to legitimate trade professionals, we’re also committed to making it as simple as possible for qualified attendees to register and get down to business."

The alumni links come after the association clamped down on growing consumer attendance at the show. In 2005, SEMA began, among other things, requiring that attendees establish their trade status by providing proof of employment at an automotive-related business.

"The alumni link is by far the best way to register for the show," said MacGillivray. "The personalized alumni number avoids complications and will ensure that the registration process is easy and smooth. But the key is for each person to use the special number that has been assigned to him or her, since it is connected to that individual’s personal information and data."

An e-mail with a unique alumni link was sent to everyone who attended the SEMA Show in 2005 or 2006. The link will automatically connect the qualified individual to the SEMA Show registration page. Qualified alumni (those who attended the 2005 or 2006 SEMA Show) who did not receive the e-mail should contact customer service at registration@aaiwshow.com or call toll-free at 866/229-3687 or 301/694-5243 to obtain their unique registration link.

New registration for those who did not attend in 2005 or 2006 will open May 1. As a trade-only event, new registrants will still be required to submit proof of employment in the automotive industry.
