China's Auto Imports and Exports Exceed $13 Billion in First Quarter

BEIJING -- China's total import and export of automotive products reached $13.361 billion in the first quarter of this year, according to statistics from the customs.

Of this, imports made up $5.362 billion, increasing 18.46 percent year on year, and exports were $7.999 billion, up 36.30 percent.

Export of complete vehicles reached 99,800 units in the first quarter, up 5.32 percent year on year.

One thing that merits attention is that export of cars presented a very fast increase to reach 25,000 units, jumping 48.9 percent year on year, and accounting for 25.05 percent.

Statistics show that the output of motor vehicles reached 2.192 billion units in the first quarter, up 22.57 percent year on year; and sales, 2.123 million units, up 22.17 percent.

Of this, output and sales of passenger vehicles were 1.578 million units and 1.537 million units, rising 23.73 percent and 22.36 percent, and that of commercial vehicles were 614,500 units and 586,200 units, up 19.69 percent and 21.69 percent, respectively.
