CONCORD, NC WIX Filters, part of Affinia Group’s family of brands, recently donated $1,600 to Motor Racing Outreach (MRO) as part of the automotive filter manufacturer’s celebration of 40 years in racing. The donation was made in the name of NASCAR driver Kurt Busch who led the 40th lap of the NEXTEL Cup Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
“The racing community has provided WIX with 40 years of partnership in research and development for our filtration products, and we’re pleased to use this anniversary milestone as a way to show our appreciation,” said Jeff Blocher, brand manager for WIX Filters.
MRO was founded as a ministry in 1988 to serve the members of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series. Today, MRO travels to tracks each weekend with programs and services for all members of the racing community.
“MRO serves an invaluable mission for drivers, teams, race staff and their families at the track each weekend,” said JD Gibbs, president of Joe Gibbs Racing, for which WIX is an associate sponsor. “WIX has been an integral supporter of Joe Gibbs Racing for years, and we appreciate them taking an active role in supporting one of our favorite charities.”
WIX pledged $40 for each of the first 40 laps of the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, located in Concord, NC, just 20 miles from WIX’s headquarters in Gastonia, NC. WIX made the donation in the name of the leader of the race’s 40th lap Busch, the driver of Penske Racing’s No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge.
