David Baratti, 45, vice president of sales and marketing for Heil Environmental, died June 17 at home in Chattanooga, TN.

He is survived by his wife, Angelia, and daughter, Caitlyn; parents, Mario and Nancy Baratti of West Memphis, AR.; sister, Laurie Morgan of Marion, AR and mother-in-law, Betty Anderson of Newport, AR.

Baratti joined Heil in January 2002 as general sales manager, eastern region. He was promoted to director of marketing in June 2002. In May 2005, David was named vice president, North American sales. He was appointed vice president, sales and marketing in February 2006. In this position, he had global responsibility for all of Heil’s sales and marketing activities, product development and customer support.

Baratti came to Heil from Grote Industries, a vehicle safety systems manufacturer. He joined Grote in 1990 as a field rep. After a stint as Southeast regional sales manager, he spent four years as manager of marketing services, with responsibility for marketing, product development and customer service. He was named director of OEM sales in 1997 and held this position until he signed on at Heil.

Baratti was born Sept. 2, 1961. He graduated from Arkansas State University in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Over the next seven years, he led a number of sales and marketing teams for NAPA Auto Parts, North America’s leading supplier of automotive parts and accessories.

Baratti enjoyed outdoor sports, especially mountain biking, hiking, camping and fishing. He was active on the competitive barbecue circuit and was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Services were held June 22 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis, AR, with interment at Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, AR. A memorial service is planned in Chattanooga at a later date.

In David’s memory, the family has set up an educational fund for his daughter, Caitlyn.
