ORLAND PARK , IL James "J.W." Callison of Midwest Wheel Companies in Des Moines, Iowa, was inducted in to the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Hall of Fame during the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Industry Awards Luncheon held Jan. 23 during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week '08 in Las Vegas.
"J.W. certainly fits the criteria and is deserving of this honor," said John Minor executive vice president, Midwest Wheel Companies, who accepted the award on Callison's behalf. "He propelled our company to an industry leadership position through technology and, more importantly, human resources the people employed by the company. He is known by most of the people to this day in the industry as a consummate gentleman and as a true icon of the industry."
Callison also was known as the consummate salesman, according to Minor. "J.W. always says, 'There are three things that are important to remember: look for the need, point out the benefits, get the sale.'"
Callison retired in 1997 and now resides in Naples , FL.
Presented by R. L. Polk & Co. for the second year, the ward recognizes individuals, companies or organizations that have made a significant contribution to the industry. The criteria used are length of service in the industry, significant impact on the industry, commitment to industry participation and thought leadership.
Polk hosts a panel of industry experts responsible for the process for selection of the inductee. A formal nomination and judging process culminates with the award presentation during Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week.
