BETHESDA, MD The Leadership Development Network (LDN) has announced the winners of the 2008 LDN scholarships. The selected students will each receive a $1,000 scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic years.
Students selected to receive the scholarships are:
Elijah Allgood, Denver, Colo.
Jennifer Coburn, Brighton, Mich.
Anthony Gregory, Jr., Houston, Texas
Ryan Martin, Carbondale, Ill.
Matthew Toney, Ellenboro, N.C.
LDN, along with several other associations, collaborated with the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) Scholarship Committee to create an online scholarship resource for students planning to pursue careers in the automotive aftermarket.
"In teaming with the GAAS Scholarship Committee, we greatly increased our qualified students for the LDN scholarships," said LDN past chair Don Keeling, N.A. Williams Co. "There were many candidates that met our criteria for selection, but in the end, the five chosen exceeded our parameters. I would like to thank the sponsors of the LDN Fun Walk & Run for their generous donations that helped fund this valuable endeavor. I would also like to congratulate the five candidates chosen to be recipients of this year's LDN scholarships."
Through this cooperative effort, students were able to complete one online application at www.automotivescholarships.com and receive consideration for the LDN scholarships, the GAAS scholarships and other awards for which the student met the individual association qualifications.
"We are pleased to have the Leadership Development Network join us in the important work of creating this valuable resource for students and promoting this investment in our industry's future," said Pete Kornafel, chairman, GAAS Scholarship Selection Committee. "Automotivescholarships.com will begin accepting applications in September 2008 for the 2009 scholarships, and we look forward to a continued partnership with LDN."
