WINCHESTER, Va. -- Due to the continued global escalation of prices in the petroleum and metal commodities markets, Remy International has announced a 4 percent price increase for its light- and medium-duty aftermarket starter and alternator product lines effective July 1.

Near-record demand for commodities and other materials have resulted in dramatic increases in the cost of subcomponents used in the manufacture of Remy’s 100-percent new alternators and starters, as well as components used to supplement the company’s remanufacturing processes.

Remy joins a number of other aftermarket companies, including ArvinMeritor and several tire makers that recently announced price increases as a result of high fuel and raw materials costs.
