AKRON, Ohio -- Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said it will spend about $500 million to relocate its facility in Dalian in northeast China to another site in the port city.
Goodyear's existing Dalian plant cannot be expanded since it’s surrounded by residential developments, so the tiremaker decided to move production to a new area in the city.
Construction of the new facility is scheduled to be finished by late 2010, while transfer of production will be complete by 2012. The current plant will then be closed completely, according to Goodyear. (Courtesy of Tire Review)
