PHILADELPHIA -- Pep Boys has appointed Michael Odell as its permanent chief executive officer (CEO). Odell had been serving as the company’s interim CEO since April 23, following the sudden departure of previous CEO Jeff Rachor. Odell also serves on the board of directors.
“As expected, Mike stepped seamlessly into the role of Interim CEO, quickly gaining the confidence of all of our 18,000 associates under his charge,” said James Mitarotonda, chairman of the board for Pep Boys. “Over the past six months, he has worked tirelessly to lead our transformation to become the automotive solutions provider of choice for the value-oriented customer. While there is much work remaining to be done, there is no doubt that Mike’s vast automotive aftermarket experience and hands-on leadership style uniquely qualify him to ensure Pep Boys’ success.”
“I want to thank the board and all our associates for their support,” said Odell. “Together, we are focused on putting our customers first and driving sales.”
