MIDLAND, MI -- The National Catalog Managers Association (NCMA) has given a gift to Northwood University’s Sloan Family Building for Aftermarket Studies.
The Sloan building, currently under construction on Northwood’s Midland, MI, campus, will become the home of the university’s O. Temple Sloan, Jr. Automotive Aftermarket Program. This four-year undergraduate dual major enables students to enroll in core industry courses in aftermarket manufacturing, heavy-duty marketing, aftermarket retail/wholesale management, supply chain management, lean distribution, logistics and current issues affecting the industry, as well as general education and strategic management courses.
“The gift from NCMA to the Northwood University Sloan Family Building Fund is significant because it will serve to remind students and faculty of the importance of the catalog and product information management profession in aftermarket business,” said Chris Nierintz of Dorman Products, NCMA president.
The 25,000-square-foot $6 million facility is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2008 and will provide the university with several classrooms, a lecture auditorium, an interactive classroom, board rooms, faculty offices, student and alumni lounges and a large atrium area. The facility will also become the home of the University of the Aftermarket.
“This generous gift from the members of the NCMA will be recognized in our facility as part of the faculty office reception area, and will provide our students and visitors with a constant reminder of the scope and depth of this great industry,” said Northwood’s President and CEO Keith A. Pretty.
