A new government report says that American drivers continued driving less in March, a clear sign that rising gasoline costs are keeping people off the roads.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHA) report estimated that Americans drove 11 billion miles less this past March vs. the same month last year, down 4.3 percent. The FHA tracking shows American drivers have been reducing their driving continuously since November 2007.

Cumulative stats show that driving miles have fallen 17.3 billion miles since November 2006. (Courtesy of Tire Review)
