2014 AASA Technology Conference Keynote Address: Sensors Are In The Future For Aftermarket Suppliers

The conference is scheduled from Sunday, Oct. 5, through Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Marco Island, Fla.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Digital vehicle data is the driver of telematics, remote diagnostics and myriad other innovations for “connected cars.” Measuring and converting this information from many different locations on vehicles is critical – and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), the light vehicle aftermarket division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), will feature a leading subject matter expert in this area at its 2014 Technology Conference on Monday, Oct. 6. The conference is scheduled from Sunday, Oct. 5, through Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Marco Island, Fla.

Mark Schluentz, market segment leader, Sensata Technologies, will present the AASA Technology Conference keynote address, “Convergence of Mechanical and Digital.” He will discuss the use of sensors and microprocessors to measure physical parameters from many locations on vehicles and convert this information to valuable digital data.

“The 2014 AASA Technology Conference is the one event [for] the automotive and heavy-duty aftermarket industries [that is] addressing how current and emerging technologies will drive efficiencies, reduce costs, identify customer trends and forecast future needs,” noted Bill Long, AASA president and chief operating officer. “Mark will address a critical element of our 2014 conference theme, ‘Connecting Through Technology.’”

“Sensor technology will connect vehicle and part performance with vehicle owners, suppliers and service professionals,” added Chris Gardner, AASA vice president, programs and member services. “Mark will discuss the growing number of non-automotive and automotive applications that provide data that are part of the ‘Internet of Things.’”

Schluentz worked for General Motors prior to Sensata, and his experience includes leading strategic searches to develop products to meet fuel cell requirements and managing engineering projects. He earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University, an M.S. in engineering from Purdue University and an MBA at Indiana University.

In addition to his keynote address at the AASA Technology Conference, Schluentz also will participate in a small group discussion with attendees to allow a deeper dive into the convergence of mechanical parts and digital data.

The 2014 AASA Technology Conference will feature an interactive format with 20-minute keynote presentations and small group question-and-answer sessions concurrent with other speakers. Conference breakout sessions will include marketing technology, information technology and heavy-duty technology.

More information about the AASA Technology Conference 2014, including hotel accommodations and event registration, is available at www.aasatech.com. The ATC has reserved a room block for the event; attendees should reserve rooms here, no later than Friday, Sept. 12, for guaranteed rates and room availability.
